Compton, Calif. - Freshman Yazzmine Arrington-Edwards went 5-for-6 with a home run, while sophomore Marlene Rodriguez earned two wins as the Tartar softball team swept Golden West on Saturday afternoon. Game scores were 6-2 and 19-2 (5 innings).
Arrington-Edwards went yard in the second game of the day, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs scored and six RBI. She went 1-for-2 in the first game with a RBI and run.
Freshmen Ray-Ann Rudon and Christina Valladares also earned extra base hits in both games. Overall the team counted 27 hits on the day, 10 extra base.
Rodriguez improves to 3-1 on the season after throwing the complete game in the front end of the doubleheader. She entered the second game in the third inning, throwing 2.2 innings of scoreless relief and allowing only two hits.
Softball (5-6) continues its homestand by hosing South Coast Conference opponent El Camino on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 3 p.m.
